David Thompson has said on Twitter that the future of Liverpool sporting director Michael Edwards is an even bigger problem for the Reds than a new contract for Mohamed Salah.
The former Liverpool midfielder has said that the Reds have a conundrum regarding handing forward Salah a new deal.
The Egypt international remains one of the best forwards in the world and is arguably the most important player for Liverpool in terms of scoring goals.
However, Salah is 29 now.
Thompson has added that an even bigger problem for Liverpool is the future of Edwards.
Edwards has been superb in his role as the sporting director of Liverpool, signing the likes of Fabinho, Alisson, Andy Roberson, Virgil van Dijk and Salah.

The Athletic reported on August 30 that Edwards is out of contract at Liverpool next summer.
The report added that the Englishman is ‘believed to have informed the Liverpool hierarchy of his intention to move on’.
However, according to the report, there is still a chance that Edwards could sign a new deal, but the likelihood is that he will leave next summer.
Liverpool are doing well on the pitch at the moment and are one of the main contenders for the Premier League title this season.
It is important that the Reds sort out the future of Salah and Edwards one way or the other soon.
