Newcastle’s Aleksandar Mitrovic shoots at goal
Newcastle United midfielder Mohamed Diame has explained to the Chronicle how he plans to use Aleksandar Mitrovic to boost his own performances this season.
The Serbian proved to be a big hit at St James Park last season following a summer move from Anderlecht.
His combative nature and all action performances quickly earned him the love of the Magpies faithful, even if he did struggle for his best goalscoring form.

It is that combative nature that has some believing he will be a hit in the Championship this year.
They feel the competitiveness in the division will see him thrive, and Diame is among them, explaining how he plans to use it to his advantage.
“He is a warrior. I have watched him train and he’s a real fighter,” he told the Chronicle.
“He’s a great player, he will help us a lot. The Championship is tough and hard and we need characters like Mitro. If I play behind him I will be using him to hold things up and make runs.”

Unfortunately for Mitrovic, it is uncertain what role he will have to play in the Newcastle first team this season.
Magpies boss Rafa Benitez has several options available to him after the summer transfer window and the Serbian is arguably down the pecking order at present.
Indeed, the signing of Daryl Murphy means the target man role he likely would have played has also been filled and it remains to be seen just how big a role he ends up playing.
