Everton, Arsenal, Liverpool, Sunderland and many more teams may want to take notice of the talented players potentially being told they can leave the French capital in January.
As usual when a club becomes the benefactors of a rich foreign investor there is always an inevitable stage of transition that follows. In that timeframe sometimes managers change, tactics certainly change and more than anything players come and go; sometimes the same player might do both.
Paris Saint-Germain manager Carlo Ancelotti has one of the best but most difficult jobs in world football. While he is blessed with countless amounts of finance he also has to deal with keeping the egos intact of a large squad of talented players in a league currently struggling to live up to the prestige of its English, Spanish, Italian or German counterpart.
With that in mind there have been several names from Les Parisiens linked with a move away in January. Could Premier League sides take advantage of this apparent ‘PSG clearance sale’?
We assess the options…
Kevin Gameiro
The 25-year old has eight caps for France and was a goal machine at previous club Lorient. Signed by PSG in 2011 for €11million the recent influx of talent has seen him drop down the pecking order in the French capital and it is widely believed PSG would be happy to remove him from the wage-bill. Everton, Liverpool, Arsenal among others have been previously linked with the striker.
Guillaume Hoarau
Another striker who has not benefitted from the arrival of new faces the rangy forward is out of contract in the summer and PSG may look to cash in on him in January. Everton again are interested along with several French clubs.
Siaka Tiene
A player whose versatility and physicality would certainly suit the Premier League the Ivorian has been completely frozen out of the squad in recent weeks. His potential involvement at the African Nations could put teams off however Sunderland are just one team credited with an interest in the left-back-come-midfielder.
Diego Lugano
The Uruguayan is another who has watched from the stands this season after the arrival of Thiago Silva made him redundant. An excellent veteran defender who shone at the World Cup in 2010 he seems destined to return to Turkey or South America but there is little doubt he could do a job in the Premier League.
Javier Pastore
He was linked with a potential swap-deal with Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder at the start of the month but that seems unlikely now as Ancelotti has insisted he is an important player for PSG. Still no smoke without fire? He could become disillusioned with critics in France and would have Premier League sides clambering for his signature.
Nene
PSG’s best player last season is in the final year of his contract and his situation is far from clear. Another who seems likely to return to South America rather than move to the Premier League.
Mohammed Sissoko
The former Liverpool player has also struggled to find regular football in Paris this season and considering the success of his spell at Anfield he would not be in short supply of suitors despite reported interest from AC Milan.
