The Toulouse forward has had an interesting career up to now. So what should Everton fans know about him ahead of a potential move to Merseyside?
The Mirror has reported that Everton are looking into doing some serious transfer dealing in January with players both leaving and entering the club. If David Moyes can secure the loan signing of former Toffee Joleon Lescott from Manchester City at an affordable wage structure he may be willing to sell Johnny Heitinga. The Dutch international has struggled to usurp Sylvain Distin and Phil Jagielka from the first-team this season and has been linked with a £7 million move to Turkish outfit Galatasaray.
If this sequence of events pans out then Moyes would be allowed to spend the money in the window and he has two French based strikers on his radar. The first is Paris Saint-Germain and French international striker Kevin Gameiro while the other is the slightly lesser known Wissam Ben Yedder of Toulouse.
So what can we tell you about the 22-year-old forward?
1. Wissam Ben Yedder was born in Sarcelles, a northern suburban commune of Paris, France on the 12th August 1990.
2. He spent much of his junior career with Parisien based sides including Garges-les-Gonesse FCM and U.S Saint-Denis.
3. He was a regular player of the short-form game Futsal which has gone some way to developing his superb technical ability.
4. He has represented the French national futsal team on two occasions while playing with Garge Djibson Futsal club where he was part of the team that finished as runners-up in the 2009-10 Futsal Championship.
5. His first taste of competitive football came with Amateur Championship side UJA Alfortville before signing for Toulouse in 2010.
6. He made his debut in 2010 and went on to score his first goal for the club on the 21st April 2012 against Evian Thonon in a Ligue 1 fixture.
7. This season has been his breakout year after scoring nine goals in 16 appearances his pace up front has seen him usurp hot prospect Emmanuel Riviere in the pecking order of coach Alain Casanova.
8. He has featured three times for the French under-21 side.
9. He was one of five players along with Yann M’Vila, Antoine Griezmann, Chris Mavinga and M’Baye Niang to receive a suspension after an unsanctioned night out prior to a vital European under-21 qualifier with Norway. He was suspended until the New Year.
10. He is also eligible for selection for the Tunisian national football team but he has expressed a previous desire to represent Les Bleus:
‘’I tasted the team jersey of France and I’d like to taste it again. I want to give myself the chance to [play for] France’’
