Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Luke Amos might be on the verge of making his professional football debut this weekend, after impressing at loan club Southend United.
The Shrimpers manager Phil Brown was talking to the Southend Echo this week when he admitted Amos had impressed him in a recent Southend under-21s game. A call-up for the games against Bristol Rovers or Coventry City in the coming weeks might be on the cards for the talented utility player:
“Luke is a lot closer to playing in the first team than he realises and if he doesn’t play against Bristol Rovers on Saturday there is every chance he will at Coventry.
“His attitude is exemplary, it’s absolutely bang on and the fact he wanted to play for our under 21s at a non league ground instead of Spurs’ under 23s says a lot about him.
“I thought he did well and showed why I’m sure his chance will come soon.”
Amos is one of the hotter prospects at White Hart Lane and has made the matchday squad for Tottenham this season and is a regular in first-team training sessions. He was on the bench for the League Cup tie against Liverpool earlier in the campaign.

One of his issues has been cementing a position of his own. The Spurs talent is extremely versatile and has played at both left and right full-back in the past. But his preferred position is as a holding midfield player and it is here he will be hoping to make his mark with Southend United.
Tottenham Hotspur fans will eagerly watch on to see if the 20-year-old has the talent to be yet another first-team breakthrough.
