Villa losses and Bruce link
Aston Villa announced a huge financial loss. With the club bottom of the Premier League this was just more bad news, to the tune of a £57 million loss.
The report from the Mirror also suggested no buyers were yet interested in buying the struggling club.
However, that did change in the summer, with Tony Xia taking over.
Also in Villa news, a year ago today the Mirror reported that the club had lined up then Hull City manager Steve Bruce as a replacement for the struggling Frenchman Remi Garde.
In the end, they appointed Roberto Di Matteo in the summer. When that failed they finally turned to Bruce who remains in charge for the time being.
Marco Reus scores the third goal for Dortmund
Tottenham trounced
Tottenham were thrashed in Germany by a rampant Borussia Dortmund side. Mauricio Pochettino’s men lost 3-0 to the Bundesliga club at Signal Iduna Park.
A brace from Marco Reus and an opening goal from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang put Spurs in serious danger of elimination from the Europa League.
Pochettino and Spurs’ European fortune has not improved much this season either.
They were knocked out of the Champions League at the Group Stage before being sent packing from the Europa League by Belgian outfit Gent.
