None of England’s NextGen sides recorded victory in the most recent round of fixtures as Chelsea and Tottenham drew 1-1 away to Molde and Anderlecht respectively while Liverpool were defeated by an impressive Borussia Dortmund side.

It was a disappointing night of NextGen action for English sides as along with Manchester City’s 1-1 draw with Juventus in Italy none of the other three teams in action managed to pick up victories in their respective fixtures.
Perhaps most disappointingly was the result from Norway where Chelsea failed to win against the tournaments whipping boys so far Molde FK. The Young Blues went 1-0 down to a tremendous strike from the Norwegian outfit’s under-16 international Jan Tidjani Aboubacar. A late goal from Swedish defensive midfielder Isak Ssewankambo spared Chelsea blushes as Molde earned their first points of campaign so far. It leaves Chelsea struggling to escape their Group with the impressive CSKA Moscow and Ajax currently in the driving seat.
Tottenham Hotspur once again threw away a winning opportunity this time in Belgium against Anderlecht. Playing at the Constant Vanden Stock the Young Lilywhites took the lead when Nabil Bentaleb converted from the penalty spot but the Belgian side were not to be outdone and their new Colombian recruit Oswal Alvarez struck soon after to condemn Spurs to another draw. After throwing away a two-goal advantage against Wolfsburg in their previous tie the result will worry Alex Inglethorpe as his side continue to make hard work of qualifying from Group 1.
There was a shock result in Liverpool’s group as the increasingly impressive looking Rosenborg side defeated reigning champions Inter Milan in Norway. Luca Garritano gave the Italian side the lead but two goals in the final five minutes from Aleksander Sorloth and Vajeba Sakor saw them take control of Group 5.
Liverpool however face an increasingly uphill battle to escape the group stages after losing to German side Borussia Dortmund. Conor Coady scored for Liverpool but it came either side of two goals from BVB including Jannik Bandowski’s winner in the 77th minute.
