Many Premier League clubs have been linked with a move for French teenage wing-back Lucas Digne of Lille. Lille have produced hotly chased prospects before in the form of Eden Hazard and now Chelsea along with Manchester United and Manchester City are in hot pursuit.
Here are ten facts about the hot prospect.
1. Lucas Digne was born in Meaux, part of the Ile-de-France region in the metropolitan area of the French capital Paris in 1993
2. He signed for Lille in 2005 as a 12-year-old.
3. He had previously been at local sides U.S Crepy-en-Valois and U.S Mareuil-sur-Ourcq.
4. The 19-year-old has become a regular in the Lille side this season after making his debut against Sedan a year ago, in October of 2011.
5. After impressing he was awarded the number three jersey for the upcoming campaign.
6. As well as being a left-full-back his athleticism allows him to also operate on the left hand side of midfield.
7. He signed a new contract at the club in January that ties him down officially until the summer of 2016.
8. He has been a regular for France’s youth set-up since the age of 15, playing for the under-16 all the way to under-19 level; where he has made 12 caps and scored the solitary goal.
9. He scored his first goal for the Lille recently, against FC Copenhagen in the qualification round for the UEFA Champions League. They won in extra-time and have BATE Borisov, Bayern Munich and Valencia in their Group.
10. Despite all this rumoured interest in his signature, so far the French youngster has denied he wants to leave the club. He stated that ‘’Lille is the club of my heart’’ and that he has ‘’no desire to leave’’.
