We bring you a quick fact file on Jores Okore, the 20-year-old defender who has been linked with both Premier League sides in the past month. Is he good enough?
An integral part of the FC Nordsjaelland side who have stunned many by qualifying for Europe this season Jores Okore is now being linked with a move to away. Chelsea and Manchester United have been reported as potential destinations. So what can we tell you about the 20-year-old defender?
1. Jores Okore was born in Abidjan, Ivory Coast
2. He moved to Denmark aged three with his family where they settled in the Osterbro district of Copenhagen.
3. He started his footballing education with B.93 who also helped launched the careers of Dennis Rommedahl, Mathias Jorgensen and Per Kroldrup.
4. In 2007 he moved to FC Nordsjaelland and was instantly made captain of their youth team.
5. He helped the club win their first ever major silverware when they won the Danish Cup in 2010-11.
6. He made his league debut in 2011 coming on as a substitute for American international Michael Parkhurst.
7. He eventually became first choice centre back along with Danish partner Andreas Bjelland as the Farum club won the Danish Superliga for the first time in their history last season.
8. Despite being born in the Ivory Coast Okore has represented Denmark from a young age. He played for the under-21s and made his debut for the senior side against Sweden in an international friendly last November.
9. Since then he has made four appearances for Denmark and was part of the Euro 2012 squad.
10. Earlier in the month club legend Peter Schmeichel suggested that Okore would be a great addition at Old Trafford while the player himself has announced himself a big fan of Chelsea and that his dream is to one day play for The Blues.
His agent has stoked the recent reports of a potential move away from Denmark:
“There has always been interest, but it has become more intense after the Champions League matches. The sporting aspect is the most important. Playing time is very important. The club should adore him and you should be able to notice that they want him.’’
