GK – Jake Gleeson (Portland Timbers)
Gleeson may not have been able to prevent Portland from losing 1-0 at Sporting Kansas City but he kept the scoreline closer than it should’ve been, making several crucial saves over the course of the 90 minutes.
RB – Atiba Harris (FC Dallas)
The Saint Kitts and Nevis international set up Maximiliano Urruti’s goal in Dallas’ 2-0 home win over the Vancouver Whitecaps, while also winning a match-leading three aerial duels and making three interceptions.
CB – Jamison Olave (Real Salt Lake)
After struggling for form and fitness over the first half of the season, Olave managed to silence some of his critics in RSL’s 2-1 win at the Philadelphia Union. Given the start over homegrown teenager Justen Glad, the Colombian defender made seven clearances and a crucial last-gasp goal-line block to help secure the visitors all three points.
CB – Jelle van Damme (LA Galaxy)
The former Southampton and Wolverhampton Wanderers defender produced a man-of-the-match performance in LA’s 1-1 draw at the Seattle Sounders, making two goal-line clearances and four interceptions as Bruce Arena’s men extended their unbeaten run across all competitions to nine games.
LB – Taylor Kemp (D.C. United)
The 26-year-old stood out in DCU’s 1-1 draw with the Montreal Impact by making three key passes and 12 crosses – including the one which set up Patrick Mullins’ debut goal.
CM – Kellyn Acosta (FC Dallas)
As well as opening the scoring against Vancouver, Acosta helped keep Dallas’ midfield ticking over in Sunday night’s largely one-sided affair at Toyota Park by completing 55 of his 58 passes – 10 of which were long balls.
CM – Frank Lampard (New York City FC)
The former Chelsea midfielder continued his startling scoring run in NYCFC’s 5-1 thrashing of the high-flying Colorado Rapids, netting the first-hat-trick in franchise history to give him eight goals in his last eight games and earn a standing ovation from the same crowd that were booing him just two months ago.
RW – Jack Harrison (New York City FC)
The 19-year-old rookie winger also impressed in Saturday’s victory at Yankee Stadium, setting up Lampard’s second strike and winning the spot-kick that allowed his fellow Englishman to complete his three-goal haul.
AM – Nicolas Lodeiro (Seattle Sounders)
The Uruguayan playmaker enjoyed an eye-catching debut against the Galaxy following his much-anticipated move from Boca Juniors, recording a phenomenal 124 touches and completing 85 percent of his game-high 95 passes. He also had four shots, created three scoring chances and served up seven crosses.
LW – Kevin Molino (Orlando City SC)
The Trinidadian winger scored two goals and set up another to help Orlando beat the New England Revolution 3-1 at home in Jason Kreis’ first match in charge.
ST – Sebastian Giovinco (Toronto FC)
The league’s reigning MVP took centre stage once again in TFC’s 3-0 win over Columbus Crew SC after netting a hat-trick the previous weekend, setting up two goals and scoring himself to move the hosts up to third place in the Eastern Conference.
