Philly’s Jamaican stopper produced 10 saves in Saturday’s clash with the New England Revolution to help earn his understrength side a 1-1 draw ahead of the US Open Cup final.
RB – R.J. Allen (New York City FC)
It’s not easy to contain Kekuta Manneh but Allen somehow managed it on Saturday night, helping NYCFC grab a surprise 2-1 win at the Vancouver Whitecaps with a strong defensive showing.
CB – Kendall Waston (Vancouver Whitecaps)
Despite Vancouver’s defeat, the towering Costa Rican still strengthened his case for the Defender of the Year award on the weekend, amassing a match-leading 10 interceptions in his battle with David Villa.
CB – Ethan White (Philadelphia Union)
Like his goalkeeper, White also put in a big performance at the Revs, recording 12 clearances and seven interceptions on the night.
LB – Amadou Dia (Sporting Kansas City)
Despite following Philadelphia’s lead in fielding a weakened team ahead of the cup final, SKC still managed to earn a 1-1 draw against the Seattle Sounders thanks in part to an impressive performance from Dia, who recorded seven tackles and set up Dom Dwyer’s 79th-minute equaliser.
CM – Nigel Reo-Coker (Montreal Impact)
The former West Ham United and Aston Villa midfielder supplied a great cross for Didier Drogba’s opener in Wednesday night’s 2-1 victory over the Chicago Fire, before producing another strong display in the weekend’s 2-0 win against D.C. United.
CM – Frank Lampard (New York City FC)
The Chelsea legend scored his second MLS goal at Vancouver, while also winning a last-gasp spot-kick for captain Villa to dispatch for the win.
AM – Kaka (Orlando City SC)
Orlando’s superstar skipper helped keep their faint post-season hopes alive with three assists in their 5-2 win at the New York Red Bulls.
ST – Fanendo Adi (Portland Timbers)
The Nigerian striker scored either side of half-time as the Timbers beat the Columbus Crew 2-1 at MAPFRE Stadium to end a run of four games without a win.
ST – Cyle Larin (Orlando City SC)
The 20-year-old Canadian made MLS history with his hat-trick in Friday’s victory at the Red Bulls, breaking Damani Ralph’s single-season rooking scoring record. He still has three more games to add to his 14 goals, too.
ST – Didier Drogba (Montreal Impact)
The former Chelsea striker continued his hot start to life in MLS in Week 30, as his headed finish against Chicago and first-half brace against D.C. made it seven goals in his first six games for Montreal.
