MLS legend Bradley Wright-Phillips has said he couldn’t believe that Lionel Messi had agreed to join Inter Miami after leaving PSG.
Speaking to the Independent, the former New York Red Bulls striker revealed that he hasn’t really come to terms with the soccer icon making the move to America to play in MLS, with Messi set to be unveiled as an Inter Miami player at a special event this weekend.
With Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba also set to be announced as new Inter Miami signings, Tata Martino’s side could be about to hit new heights with three superstar arrivals. And the feeling that Messi is now an MLS player still hasn’t settled with some.

Wright-Phillips, who scored 137 goals in America in an eight-year career in the states with the Red Bulls, Columbus Crew and Los Angeles FC, has been one of the key figures in raising the profile of MLS in recent seasons. And the former striker couldn’t contain his excitement at Messi making the move across the Atlantic.
The MLS icon said: “My first reaction to Messi coming out was I just couldn’t believe it. Honestly, even now until I see him run out on an MLS pitch, I can’t really fathom what it’s going to be. It’s hard to even picture that. Even now it doesn’t seem real to me. It’s Messi!”
