Rangers are set to secure a deal for Matt Polster.

Rangers have already secured four new signings this month, and a fifth looks set to arrive in the coming days in Matt Polster.
The Gers have landed Steven Davis and Jermain Defoe on loan to boost their title hopes, whilst Glen Kamara and Jordan Jones are penned pre-contract agreements to arrive in the summer.
Steven Gerrard won’t be doing much more business, and American ace Polster could prove to be their final signing of the January transfer window.
Polster, 25, is leaving Chicago Fire on a free transfer with his contract expiring, and joined up with Rangers for training back in December.
The right back, who can also play in holding midfield, went out to the club’s training camp in Tenerife earlier this month and now looks set to sign permanently.
Gerrard told Rangers TV yesterday that Polster is just waiting for a work permit to finalise his move to Ibrox, and that may be Rangers done for the window.
Fans may not be too familiar with Polster, who looks to be a utility man for Gerrard’s side, so they may be interested to hear what MLSSoccer.com’s expert Andrew Wiebe has said about him.

Wiebe spoke to Sky Sports’ Transfer Talk podcast yesterday, and suggested that Polster is quick, strong, good on the ball and effective defensively, but one major problem is hanging over him – a serious knee injury that caused him to miss most of 2018, with Wiebe believing that he will be a solid player as long as he’s fit, with Gerrard and co surely confident about his fitness.
“He started in defensive midfield and then moved to right-back in 2017 and he really thrived there,” said Wiebe. “He started to pick up the ball in advanced positions, he’s really good at tucking inside, he’s good at combinations in tight spaces because he has the technical ability from his central midfield days. He started to pick up minutes, he started to get hype for the US national team as somebody who could solve our outside back problems.”
“He’s quick-twitch, he’s strong, there’s no problem with that – MLS, like Scotland, is very physical. But my question, as i’m sure is the same with Rangers, is the health, because he had a knee injury and surgery, so basically missed 2018. But when you bring him in on trial and get a look, you figure Gerrard and the staff in the back said he’s fine. I think as long as he stays healthy, there’s no reason to worry about him,” he added.
