Tottenham really lost their title dream a week ago when defeated by West Ham, but Chelsea sealed their triumph last night.
The winning goal against West Brom was inevitably scored by substitute Michy Batshuayi, who Spurs attempted to sign last summer.
Tottenham were beaten to a deal as Chelsea won the race for the striker at £33m, much to the frustration of Spurs’ head of recruitment Paul Mitchell who subsequently quit.

The London Evening Standard reported Mitchell grew disillusioned with Spurs after failing to land the striker, despite having watched him extensively.
Tottenham’s lack of willingness to break their strict wage structure meant they could not compete with Chelsea, much to Mitchell’s frustration.
Even Toby Alderweireld was left frustrated, telling SkySports last summer he was keen for his international teammate to join Spurs.

It hasn’t been a pretty season though for the Belgian striker. He has barely played in the Premier League, and there has not been a compelling case that Tottenham actually made a mistake not fighting more to sign him.
He has not started a single league game, and last night’s goal was just his second of the season in the league from the bench.
Last night’s goal will change how his Chelsea spell is perceived, make it more memorable, and even extend his stay at the club.
