Michael Owen and Ian Wright have agreed that Kai Havertz was at fault for Manchester United’s opening goal during their Premier League showdown against Arsenal on Sunday.
The former strikers say that it was a ‘poor’ pass from Arsenal’s big-money summer signing that allowed the on-rushing and alert, Marcus Rashford, to, once again, open the scoring at the Emirates for Manchester United.
Ever since Kai Havertz swapped Chelsea for the Emirates, he has felt the world on his shoulders because the criticism has been non-stop, well, Owen was clear that he made the ‘mistake’ that led to Rashford’s goal, as he told Premier League Productions (03/09/23 at 5:25 pm).
Nothing seems to be going right for the versatile forward, who even before he could kick a ball for Mikel Arteta’s side this season, was told that he was going to be a ‘flop’.
Well, the 24-year-old isn’t doing anything to dispel those claims because, whilst he has started every game for Arsenal this season, it’s just not working, as of yet.
It’s pretty clear that he needs time, but this is what, both Owen and Wright, had to say about Havertz’s mistake today.

“That’s what they did when Kai Havertz made the mistake of a square pass and that was the main part they played in that first half, Manchester United,” said Owen. “It was a brilliant counter-attack, finished brilliantly by Rashford.”
Wright added: “It’s a mistake. As I said, at the start, Man United, you can’t underestimate them simply because of the calibre of quality of players they have got.
“This is what Man United want. They want to counter-attack. It’s a poor pass from Kai Havertz from across the pitch – and it’s a great goal from Rashford. Exactly how Man United are going to score a goal, through a mistake from Arsenal.”

Havertz needs to pick up sharp-ish
The noise isn’t going to go away and the German international has no choice but to face the music and take everything on the chin.
If he decides to hide, and not take his medicine, well, it won’t be too long before no doctor will be able to cure his current issues.
The key thing is that Havertz is playing in a very good team and for a high-quality manager who has got the best out of many players. Can he add Havertz to his list? Or will he follow in the footsteps of Willian?
