Ideguchi has been linked with a January move to Leeds United
Any Leeds United fans with a bit of spare time on their hands this Friday afternoon may have had one eye on Japan’s friendly against Brazil.
That’s because Yosuke Ideguchi – a player for whom Leeds are reported to have been lining up a January deal two months ago [Yorkshire Evening Post] – was playing.
Those who were watching though may are likely to have mixed feelings about the 21-year-old, who plays his club football for Gamba Osaka.
It was from his hashed clearance that Brazil scored their second goal through Real Madrid left-back Marcelo, as shown in the tweet below.
But after Japan conceded for a third and final time, courtesy of Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus, Ideguchi did redeem himself slightly – providing the corner from which Tomoaki Makino headed in a late consolation.
Latest reports suggest Leeds face competition for Ideguchi’s signature from Belgian side Sint-Truiden [Sanspo] – but whether either club still want him remains to be seen.
