Lucas Paqueta has told Bruno Guimaraes on his Instagram story that he is ‘missing’ the Newcastle United midfielder.
The Lyon star, who is being linked with a transfer to Newcastle, was reacting to a clip of Guimaraes speaking in glowing terms about his Brazil teammate.
In January, the Magpies knocked on Lyon’s door to secure Guimaraes’ signature, in what was a statement of intent signing from the Saudi-backed club.
Well, the French club might not like to hear it, but those same knocks might just be made again this summer because Paqueta is tempted to make a switch to St James’ Park.
Nonetheless, Paqueta wrote the following message on his IG story to the Toon Army faithful’s new favourite: ‘Missing you my friend @brunoguimaraes. Love you’.
And Guimaraes responded to that message by posting on his own Instagram story: ‘I miss your brother. I miss you every day. I love you so much, my friend @lucaspaqueta.’
NEWCASTLE TRANSFER LINKS WITH PAQUETA
Well, all of this will be music to the Newcastle fans’ ears because they will be screaming that the best way to solve them two ‘missing’ each other is to play in the same team and Paqueta joining the club.
The issue for Newcastle is that they aren’t in Europe and that could be off-putting for the all-action midfielder, but that didn’t stop Guimaraes from joining, did it?!
It does seem as though Eddie Howe is keen to add attacking flair to his squad, with the 2022 summer transfer window set to slam shut in less than a month.
The reason for that is a certain James Maddison. Newcastle have submitted two bids, including the latest being for £50 million, for the Leicester City star, as reported by Sky Sports.
That’s a sign of what Howe wants, but equally, it could also mean that they aren’t too sure about being able to secure Paqueta’s talents because Arsenal and Manchester City are also hunting for the player.
