Christian Eriksen was at Tottenham Hotspur for seven years and won zero trophies. He spent just over a year at Inter Milan and won the Serie A title, and now less than 12 months at Manchester United, he already has a trophy to his name.

The 31-year-old had the chance to return to Spurs in the summer, but he opted against a move and joined Manchester United instead.

A wise move from the playmaker, but after Antonio Conte watched his side sleepwalk to their Champions League exit on Wednesday night, a lot of questions were asked, with football commentator Ian Darke raising some intriguing ones.

The ESPN pundit, who has also worked as a boxing commentator, stated that Tottenham are ‘missing’ a player of Eriksen’s ilk in the middle of the park, as he posted on Twitter.

Not only that, but Darke also mentioned how the ‘Conte era is over’ and questioned why Arnaut Danjuma signed for the north London club in the first place given that he was left on the bench for yesterday’s game.

Would someone like Eriksen have made a difference?

ERIKSEN WAS RIGHT TO JOIN MAN UNITED

Whilst Eriksen played under Conte at Inter, for large parts, he struggled, before starting to sing on the ball during the last six months of their title-winning campaign.

That’s when the unfortunate incident at Euro 2020 took place, but since then, the Denmark international has returned back to his best.

The £150k-a-week star (Spotrac) already has a trophy to his name and will be challenging for the title next season with Man United. At Spurs, they don’t even know if Conte and Harry Kane will stay beyond the summer.
