Wolverhampton Wanderers were favourites to sign Reiss Nelson once upon a time.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have enjoyed a decent return to the Premier League.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side sit 10th in the table after winning four and drawing three of their first 10 games back in the top flight.

But if there’s one area where Wolves are lacking, it’s up front.

Raul Jimenez, with two goals, is Wanderers’ leading scorer this season, but Helder Costa, Leo Bonatini, Ivan Cavaleiro and Diogo Jota have managed just the one goal between them.

You wonder whether Wolves would be better off had they ever signed Arsenal starlet Reiss Nelson.

During the summer, Nuno was 7/4 favourite to bring the 18-year-old sensation to Molineux [Football London/Ladbrokes] but the teenager wound up joining Hoffenheim on loan for the season – and he’s making quite an impression.

Earlier today, Nelson scored a stunning opener in the 4-1 win away to Bayer Leverkusen to make it five for the season, meaning that he has out-scored all of Wolves’ strikers combined.

Of course, that doesn’t mean that he’d be ripping up the Premier League under Nuno, but it certainly does make you wonder whether the top-flight new boys would be better off with Nelson than some of their other front men.
