Tottenham’s Eric Dier during training
Everton are having a good season in the Premier League under Ronald Koeman. The Dutchman is keeping the club within touching distance of the top six. However, yet again the top four looks beyond them.
But if they could have one player they sold in the past back, that would make them top four contenders, who might that be?
Surely Tottenham Hotspur’s Eric Dier is the man.
The England international spent 18 months out on loan at Everton from Sporting Lisbon as a teenager. It was a strange move and at the end of it Everton did not try keeping him, he headed back to Portugal.
Now at Spurs, Everton could certainly use a player of his talent.

He could have provided much needed cover at centre-back, an area in which Everton have found themselves struggling recently. Or, he could have taken Gareth Barry’s place in midfield, offering Everton a little more dynamism in the centre of the park.
He may never have enjoyed his bromance with Dele Alli but Everton might have been doing even better this season if Dier was still at Goodison Park.
