Heung-min Son has spoken to Jan Vertonghen on the phone after being awarded the FIFA Puskás Award for his goal against Burnley.

The South Korean won the coveted award for his incredible solo effort against the Clarets last season.

Son picked the ball up on the edge of his own box, before surging towards goal and finishing confidently.

Tottenham set up a phone call with Vertonghen, as it was the Belgian’s toe-poked clearance which set the Tottenham No.7 on his way – hilariously earning him the ‘assist’ in the process.

Speaking to the Benfica defender over FaceTime, Son said: “I miss you a lot, I’m serious.”

Vertonghen reciprocated his emotional words, telling the former Bayer Leverkusen attacker that he’s welcome to visit him in Portugal any time.

The former Ajax defender left north London in the summer after his contract expired, bringing an end to eight years at Spurs.

Vertonghen was a teammate of Son’s for five years, as the South Korean moved from the Bundesliga in 2015.

The duo featured in a Champions League final together, and also mounted a title challenge in the 2015/16 season.

The pair are still clearly very fond of each other, and we presume there won’t be a single Tottenham fan out there who wasn’t beaming from ear to ear while watching the video.
