Former Serie A ace Antonio Cassano believes Inter Milan already regret losing Ivan Perisic to Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur during the summer transfer window, speaking to Christian Vieri’s Bobo TV Twich channel.
Then again, it’s not is if Inter didn’t try to keep the evergreen Croatian at the San Siro.
Perisic rejected a number of contract offers before joining Tottenham on a two-year deal in May, reuniting with former Nerazzuri boss Antonio Conte a year after they shared Scudetto glory in 2021.

The former Borussia Dortmund flyer has already made quite the impression in his new home too. Assists against both Chelsea and Wolves helped secure four valuable points for a Spurs side within touching distance of North London rivals Arsenal at the top of the table, while breaking Marseille’s brave resistance during their Champions League group-stage opener last week.
And Inter certainly could have done with Perisic’s seemingly boundless energy reserves and game-changing qualities as Simone Inzaghi’s side were outclassed by Bayern Munich on home soil. That came just four days after a damaging defeat to city neighbours AC Milan.
Inter are now sixth in the Serie A table, albeit just two points adrift of pacesetters Napoli.
Inter Milan lost Ivan Perisic to Tottenham Hotspur
“This team misses Perisic so much,” says Cassano, who spent the 2012/13 season in blue-and-black stripes. “Inter had to keep him at all costs.”
One-time Nerrazzuri striker Lele Adani, meanwhile, believes Inter did not do enough to replace a man who contributed a combined 19 goals and assists from his left-wing-back role last season. Alexis Sanchez is another player thriving away from Italian soil, mustering four goals in six Ligue 1 appearances for Marseille.
“Inter have lost two dribblers like Perisic and (Alexis) Sanchez,” Adani adds. “They have not been replaced.
“That’s why I said that Inter had to sign someone like (Paulo) Dybala. A player with those characteristics can win a match in just one moment.”
Perisic could start in Tuesday’s group-stage clash away from home at Sporting Lisbon. Spurs are hoping to build on that hard-fought, Richarlison-inspired 2-0 win over Marseille on matchday one.
