Tim Sherwood has claimed that he is ‘sure’ Daniel Levy will back Tottenham manager, Antonio Conte, in the summer transfer market, as he told the Premier League Review Show on PL Productions.
The former Spurs boss added that there is a ‘misconception’ with Levy when it comes to transfers and he ‘doesn’t spend money’ – he feels it’s the opposite, as pointed out that ‘over £600 million’ has been splashed in five years.
What Tottenham fans will love to hear is that ENIC recently injected £150 million into the club, after a capital increase.
That signals that money will be spent on players when the summer transfer market re-opens in July, although, nothing stops them from getting players in early.
Nonetheless, Sherwood knows what Levy is like first-hand and his comments will be welcomed by fans, Conte and everyone else associated with Tottenham.
“I think Levy backs every manager he has ever had,” said Sherwood. “There is this misconception that he doesn’t spend money.
“If you look at the money that has been spent, it’s over £600 million in five years. That isn’t small change.
“But, Antonio Conte won’t be there if he’s not going to be backed. He doesn’t need the job. He just wants to win. Everyone is eating out of his hands. All the players are as well.
“If Daniel Levy decides he doesn’t want to spend the money that Antonio thinks the club need, then he will walk away and he will go and get a job somewhere else.
“Daniel is in a very tricky position now. But I am sure he will (back him). I am sure Antonio has convinced him that he is the right man.”

TOTTENHAM CAN’T WASTE ANOTHER GREAT OPPORTUNITY
Tottenham want to win trophies, the last trophy-laden coach they had in the dugout – Jose Mourinho – they sacked him one week before a final.
Whilst Mourinho has been around longer, someone like Conte is seen as a more modern version and his ideas are more accepted, even though the two have very similar styles.
Nonetheless, this is another great opportunity Spurs, and most importantly, Levy can’t let slip.
Champions League football is back at the Lane, players are improving, talk about Harry Kane leaving have gone away, Conte has expressed his happiness, now it’s just a case of getting the players in.
