The former Leeds United forward has reflected on this time last year.
Former Leeds United striker Mirco Antenucci has been speaking to Ternana News about the last January transfer window, when he was still at Elland Road.
The Italian forward had been linked with a return to his homeland 12 months ago, having slipped down the pecking order at Leeds, and he has admitted that he wanted to leave England before the end of his contract.
“I would have come away from Leeds, because that time was not a good time,” Antenucci told Ternana News.
“I had listened carefully to the proposal of (Edoardo) Longarini (the owner of Ternana). Then he discussed the conversation with my agent and eventually it was decided that would not be a viable solution.”
In the end Antenucci remained at Leeds until the end of the campaign, ultimately moving to Serie B side Spal, for whom he has turned out 18 times to date, scoring nine goals in the process.
Antenucci’s scoring ability was never in question, as he did relatively well for Leeds when he was given a prolonged run in the side.
However, each new manager has their own ideas and Leeds had a few during the Italian’s time at the club.
Now he is focused on the latest chapter of his career, with Leeds doing well in his absence and pushing for promotion back to the top flight after far too long away.
