Tottenham Hotspur misfit Gedson Fernandes has made an immediate impact at Galatasaray with vice-chairman Abdurrahim Albayrak describing the midfielder as a “miracle” signing, via Fanatik.
It took the Benfica loanee just 24 minutes to make more of an impression in Turkey than he did during 12 months at Spurs.
Gedson barely got a look in under Jose Mourinho, playing only an hour of Premier League football while being restricted to cameo appearances and the odd FA Cup outing against seventh-tier Marine.
So it was no real surprise when Tottenham decided against triggering the £43 million option-to-buy clause in his contract (Sky).
Gedson brought a premature end to his ill-fated stint in north London last month before completing an eye-catching switch to Super Lig powerhouse Galatasaray.
And, with a goal on his debut during a 3-2 defeat to Alanyaspor, the Portugal international is making up for lost time in his new surroundings.

“Gedson Fernandes was a miracle transfer. Fernandes could not sign for any other club from Turkey. It is a dream-like transfer,” says Albayrak, who credits veteran coach Fatih Terim for getting the deal done.
“Fatih made this transfer and I just signed off on it. I didn’t experience the stress of the Gedson Fernandes transfer even when I caught covid in the hospital, even when the coffins passed by me.”
At Galatasaray, Gedson has joined forces with a host of players who also endured brief and forgettable spells at a Premier League club, from Radamel Falcao to Ryan Babel and Peter Etebo to Sofiane Feghouli.
