Leeds United are reportedly set to sign Ouasim Bouy.
Reports from the Yorkshire Evening Post claim that Leeds United are poised to sign Ouasim Bouy – but whether he’ll ever actually play for the Whites is another matter.
The Whites have been busy bringing in new signings this summer, but it now appears that Leeds will be signing players with a view to loaning them out to Cultural Leonesa in Spain.
Leeds have allegedly struck a deal with the Spanish outfit to use them as a feeder club, and report suggest that Leeds will sign a player in the coming days, but immediately send him to Cultural Leonesa.
The Yorkshire Evening Post report that free agent Ouasim Bouy will pen a deal with Leeds having left Serie A giants Juventus at the end of his contract, but will promptly head to Spain in a quick turnaround for the Dutchman.
Bouy, 24, came up through the ranks with Ajax before joining Juventus in 2012, but he made just one appearance for the Turin giants, instead spending his time out on loan with Brescia, Hamburg, Panathinaikos, PEC Zwolle and Palermo.
Bouy was tipped for a huge future when he signed for Juventus, with then-representative and current super agent Mino Raiola making bold statements about the Dutchman.
Raiola, as quoted by Goal, suggested that Bouy was the best young talent born in 1993 and comparable to former Barcelona ace Mark van Bommel, touting him to make a huge impact at Juventus.
That didn’t happen, and Bouy has adapted his game to become a centre back, enjoying more success there in recent years than in midfield, and Leeds are now ready to sign him and hope that he finally fulfils his potential.
Yet, much like Aaron Mooy at Manchester City, Bouy may simply be a cheap signing for Leeds who they believe they can cash in on in the future without ever actually playing a game for the club, given that he is immediately being loaned out – but if he can live up to those Van Bommel comparisons in Spain, he may just get a chance to shine under Thomas Christiansen somewhere down the line.
