The super agent has expressed his doubts about the Gunners.
Super agent Mino Raiola has questioned whether Arsenal are brave enough to secure the big name transfers they need to progress during an interview with the Daily Mail.
The Gunners made three major signings this summer as they brought in Granit Xhaka, Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez.
While they spent big money to bring all three to the club, their business looked small compared to that carried out by some of their main rivals.
Manchester United’s moves, in particular, dwarfed the Gunners’ as they brought world stars such as Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Old Trafford.
Raiola was involved in both of those deals and has questioned if Arsenal are brave enough to attempt such moves.
“Arsenal have the money but do they have the balls? I respect Arsene Wenger. He has a philosophy that says these figures don’t match what I want to do, so that’s OK,” he told the Daily Mail.
It will be interesting to see if Arsenal continue to stay out of the big deals when Arsene Wenger leaves the club.
As Raiola states, their lack of desire to spend big money stems from the Frenchman’s unwillingness to break from his preferred strategy of developing talent.
However his replacement may not feel the same way, especially with their rivals continuing to bring in the big name players every summer.
And it will be intriguing to see if they do change their stance when that new manager is in place or whether the club will continue with their current policy regardless of who is in charge in North London.
