The women’s major championship season wrapped up this weekend, with Miyu Yamashita taking home The Women’s Open title.
Yamashita finished two shots clear of Charley Hull and Minami Katsu at Royal Porthcawl to secure the win.
Each of the five majors this season was won by a different player, highlighting the remarkable depth of talent in the women’s game.
This week, Lottie Woad didn’t repeat the success she had at the Scottish Open, but her rise is another sign of just how deep the talent pool is becoming.
Minjee Lee says the LPGA Tour has more ‘talent’ than ever before

Minjee Lee, a three-time major winner, has seen a real change in the LPGA Tour since her debut back in 2014.
The Australian believes there’s a much stronger pool of players now, and pointed to Woad, her playing partner at Royal Porthcawl, as a good example of that shift.
Speaking after The Women’s Open, Lee said: “It’s totally, totally different from obviously when I started,” Lee said about the growth of women’s golf.
“I think I said this before, it was a little more top-heavy, but I feel like the depth of the field goes… I don’t really know if there’s like that much of a gap now. It’s very… everybody is younger and talented and really fearless.
“I played with Lottie today, and she played great. Yeah, they’re just… I feel like they don’t really care as much. Maybe they need a couple more years to get more experience, and they will (laughter).
“No, they’re just… they just feel like… I feel like everybody’s crushing it, and it’s getting better and better, all the talent.”
Minjee Lee looks back on her 2025 major season
Lee reminded everyone of her quality at the Women’s PGA Championship this summer, picking up a three-stroke win at PGA Frisco – her first victory since the 2023 BMW Ladies Championship.
She also posted a top-five finish at the Evian Championship and landed inside the top 25 in each of the other three majors.
Reflecting on her year, Lee said: “I think from where I was at the beginning of the year, and obviously winning KPMG and playing Chevron and having a good finish at Evian and all right at US Open and all right here.”
“So I feel like I… I’m going to say I’ve done pretty well. Maybe like an 8 1/2.”
