Roy Keane has claimed that Tottenham transfer target, Romelu Lukaku’s mindset is ‘clearly not right’ at Chelsea, as he told ITV Sport.

The 28-year-old has only managed five Premier League goals since his record-breaking return to Chelsea.

Less than 12 months after re-signing, there are rumours swirling around that he could leave Stamford Bridge, with Spurs and a certain Antonio Conte being touted as possible suitors.

Lukaku won the Serie A title for Inter Milan last season, with the Belgian thriving under the stewardship of Conte.

It isn’t a surprise that the Italian is seemingly keen on a reunion with the hard-hitting player, who now finds himself on the Chelsea bench on a weekly basis.

Keane was critical of the player after his woes in front of goal continued during Chelsea’s FA Cup semi-final win over Crystal Palace, as he questioned ‘how badly’ he wants to save his career in West London.

“His mindset is clearly not right,” said Keane. “He has got to make it change. Just go back to basics.

“That’s what I keep saying, how badly does he want to save his Chelsea career?

It does seem as though that Lukaku needs a Conte-like figure to pick the player up again because things are going from bad to worse.

During the past few months, Chelsea have played several eye-catching games, including in the Champions League, with Thomas Tuchel opting against starting his out-of-form star.

In truth, he doesn’t have much to shout about because, not only is he missing big chances, but those in front of him, like Kai Havertz, are showing him how it should be done.

Either way, it’s going to be interesting what happens with the player in the summer and how far someone like Conte will try to push for him.
