Liverpool could have a major boost on Sunday.

The Premier League champions continue the defence of their title away at Manchester City.

And although Jurgen Klopp will be without a huge player in the form of Virgil van Dijk, Pep Guardiola might be missing a big name too.

According to the City boss, Sergio Aguero will play no part in the visit of Liverpool.

The 32-year-old has missed the Citizens’ last three games with an ongoing hamstring injury and Pep claims that tomorrow’s clash comes too soon for the Argentine.

But some Liverpool fans on Twitter are refusing to believe the Spaniard, suggesting that the former Barcelona coach might be trying to play mindgames here a tad.

Here’s what the Reds fans are saying on social media:

If he is still injured then it has to be considered a huge piece of good news for Liverpool.

We’re talking about a striker who has netted 180 goals in 265 Premier League appearances.

With Van Dijk out, Pep would absolutely love to unleash Aguero against the likes of Joe Gomez and a rusty Joel Matip – who himself has been sidelined recently – but it looks like he isn’t quite ready.

Not that Liverpool fans will believe it until the teamsheets are announced, mind you.
