Millwall centre-back Jake Cooper sat down for an exclusive interview with News At Den, and explained how he felt when he found out Rangers had offered £3 million for his services in the summer – a bid that was subsequently rejected by the Lions.

The Scottish Sun reported last month that Gers boss Steven Gerrard was desperate to bring the 23-year-old defender to Ibrox, and convinced the club’s hierarchy to offer £3 million for his services.

Cooper joined Millwall from Reading originally on loan in January 2017, before making his move to the New Den a permanent one last summer, and he has gone on to be a real hit in south London.

The centre-back is obviously fully committed to Millwall, and he explained how his head was not turned after Rangers made an offer for him earlier this summer, when speaking exclusively to News At Den:

Lucas Piazon of Fulham blocks a clearance from Jake Cooper of Millwall during the Sky Bet Championship match between Millwall and Fulham at The Den on April 20, 2018 in London, England.

“I was just focused on coming in and playing for Millwall and getting a good pre-season under my belt. I love being at this club and my main priority was just to get fit to have the best chance to have a good season with Millwall. What this club has done for me has been amazing, it’s something I wouldn’t be looking to throw away. It wasn’t down to me, they put a price on me and I’m more than happy to be still at Millwall. I want to build on last season and help take this club as high as we can go.”

Cooper has proven himself to be a real top class performer over the past 12 months, and with the transfer window in Scotland not set to close until August 31st, it would be no surprise to see Rangers come back in with an improved offer for the Lions centre-back.
