Leeds travel to south London to face Millwall next Saturday.
Millwall manager Neil Harris has fired a warning to Leeds United when speaking to London News Online by claiming that no club works harder than the Lions in the Championship – when discussing the Whites’ fitness.
Leeds currently sit at the top of the Championship table after an excellent start to the campaign under new manager Marcelo Bielsa, who won the Manager of the Month award for his efforts.
Four wins over Stoke City, Derby County, Rotherham United and Norwich City as well as respectable draws against Swansea City and Middlesbrough see Leeds pick up 14 points from their opening six games.
They face Millwall next Saturday away from home at The Den, and Harris warned Bielsa’s side that talk over Leeds’ improved fitness is nothing compared to his hard-working side.
“What Leeds are saying is that they are maybe a fitter team than last year and work harder with and without the ball,” Harris said. “It makes them a tough proposition. But no team outworks us, certainly not at home.
“We know our strengths and where we need to improve at the moment. Attitude, desire and passion are never going to be an issue. We need to cut out the silly mistakes as a group and individuals – that’s where we need to improve.
“If Leeds are coming to be physical and rampant then we are prepared to match that.”
At the other end of the spectrum, Millwal have begun the season in dreadful form, winning only one of six league games under the outspoken Harris – scoring only six goals compared to Leeds’ 14.
The sit way down in 16th place in the Championship table, after suffering a 1-0 loss to Rotherham as well as a defeat to Swansea City, two sides Leeds picked four points up against.
