Millwall sold youngster Samuel Edozie to Manchester City.

Millwall manager Neil Harris claims his side stand to make a huge amount of money if youngster Samuel Edozie features for Manchester City’s first team following his move to the Etihad Stadium, South London Press report.
“Premier League giants can come in and buy lads who are 14, 15 or 16 for millions of pounds. It is very hard to keep them – and it is another instance with Samuel,” Harris explained.
“It is the same as Darko [Gyabi], who went to Manchester City. You secure the best deals you can as a club to earn money and protect yourself in the future if they go on to do well. If they go on to make a first-team appearance then as a club we stand to make huge amounts of money.”
Edozie has followed in the footsteps of his former younger Millwall teammate Gyabi by trading the south London club for the Etihad Stadium.
According to the South London Press, City beat Chelsea to the signature of Edozie in a potential seven-figure deal while Nigeria Soccer also cited Liverpool, Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers as potential suitors.
Edozie, 16, featured for the Millwall youth sides but ended up turning down the chance of a scholarship deal at the club, favouring a move to City where he will join the Citizens’ highly rated development group.

The Lions will regret not seeing him break through to the first-team squad at The Den, yet according to Harris, the Championship club could be heavily compensated further down the line based on his success at City.
For clubs such as Millwall, it is becoming increasingly hard to retain top talent with the Premier League’s biggest clubs happy to draft them in early and spend small sums by their standards in exchange for huge potential.
