Danny Mills has praised Leeds United duo Liam Cooper and Luke Ayling on Sportology TV.

The former Leeds star has been impressed by how defenders Cooper and Ayling have stepped up to the Premier League having come through the lower leagues in England.

Cooper is the captain of Leeds and has been on the books of the West Yorkshire club since 2014.

The 29-year-old central defender was playing for Chesterfield in 2014, and now he is leading one of the biggest clubs in England in the Premier League.

Ayling could not break into the Arsenal first team and played for Yeovil Town from 2010 until 2014 before moving to Bristol City.

The 29-year-old defender switched to Leeds in 2016 and is a very important player for the Whites.

Mills said on Sportology TV: “I have been impressed with Liam Cooper, the captain who has really stepped up at this level, Luke Ayling, players that had played right down in the lower leagues have really sort of come to the fore within this.”

Stepping up

Leeds have a very good squad, and what is remarkable is that a number of players have improved a lot under head coach Marcelo Bielsa.

Bielsa has made the likes of Cooper, Ayling, Kalvin Phillips and Stuart Dallas better, and the fans will hope that they continue to progress and make sure that the club relain their Premier League status for the 2021-22 campaign.
