Everton are reportedly keen on Norwich City’s Ben Godfrey.
According to Sky Sports News, the Toffees have lodged a £26 million bid for the big centre-back, though it has since been rejected.
Michael Keane looks to be having a fine season with Everton so far but perhaps head coach Carlo Ancelotti is interested in strengthening his central defence.
Yerry Mina had a decent first full year on Merseyside last time around – after spending his first term injured quite a bit – but, for the sake of squad depth, maybe adding Godfrey makes sense.
Here’s how Everton fans reacted to hearing their club want him:
Norwich are playing a pretty dangerous game with this rejection.
They’re now a Championship club and second-tier sides can’t really afford to gamble like this, with four days left in the transfer window.
The money they get for Godfrey could go a very long way in ensuring the Canaries bounce straight back to the Premier League, but time will tell whether Everton get their man.
