Manchester City supporters felt they saw a bit of the old Gareth Bale yesterday as Tottenham fell to a 3-0 defeat against the current Premier League leaders.
Whilst Tottenham fans have been annoyed at recent performances and results, they cannot have much to argue about here because Pep Guardiola’s side have won 16 games on the bounce and dismissed all those before them.
Some of the defending on show yesterday would have frustrated Spurs fans, but this looks like a team heading for the title.
Nonetheless, a lot has been made of Bale since his return to North London, but he was encouraging when he came off the bench.
That was echoed by Man City fans, who liked what they saw, especially his mazy quick-footed run inside the penalty area, which nearly resulted in a goal and his side’s best moment of the match.
Even Man City’s own official Twitter account highlighted that and shared that it was the left-footed Welshman ‘rolling back the years’.
Either way, it will be interesting to see whether that little sparkle from Bale will result in him earning a start in Tottenham’s forthcoming games.
