The Australian was asked about Villa’s home for on Sky Sports’ EFL Weekly podcast.
If Aston Villa’s home games ended in the 85th minute, they would be eighth in the Championship with six extra points.
Instead they have mustered a solitary win on their own turf all season – a 3-0 hammering of Rotherham United in August.
The Villans’ fellow promotion favourites Newcastle United are next up at Villa Park, and will relish the trip south having won three of their four away league matches this term.
On paper at least, these are the division’s two strongest sides, so why are Villa 18th in the standings, having averaged only a point per game so far? Are their late concessions a sign they are afraid of playing in front of their own fans?
That was the question put to new signing Mile Jedinak on Sky Sports’ EFL Weekly podcast, to which the Aussie replied: “I wanna play at home, I don’t know about what anyone else thinks. For me, I see Villa Park and think (exhales) this is some stadium.
“If you don’t wanna play in front of your home fans then I think there’s something wrong with you. It comes with the magnitude of playing or a club like this. If you shy away from that then you’re gonna have a difficult time.
“I for one am definitely looking forward to game at the weekend and testing myself against another team that’s gonna be challenging right up there near the end.”
Imposing midfielder Jedinak arrived at Villa Park from Crystal Palace in August, but only made his home debut for Roberto Di Matteo’s side in last week’s 1-1 draw against Brentford.
Having captained his former side, the Villans will be counting on Jedinak’s leadership skills to hoist them up the table.
