Aston Villa look set for an unspectacular mid-table finish in the Championship this season.
Aston Villa’s Mile Jedinak
Mile Jedinak has insisted that Aston Villa have made improvements throughout the season, and suggested that their difficult first year in the Championship will benefit them during the next campaign, the Birmingham Mail reports.
The Villans look to be on course to secure a comfortable mid-table finish in the division – the gap separating them from the play-off places is just one point less than the gap between themselves and the bottom three – and have arguably spent a lot more time worrying about relegation than getting excited about a promotion push.
However, Steve Bruce’s men have enjoyed a much more impressive run over the last couple of months, and Jedinak has suggested that that is proof that they have now found their feet in the second tier.
“I’ve seen the group grow, not only as individuals but as a playing squad,” he said, as reported by the Mail.

“We now know what it takes to win football games in this division.
“I don’t think we are under any illusions that it’s going to be easy going forward. It never was and it never should be.
“But, going forward, you want to see people take all of that onboard and bring even more next season to try and build this club and get it to where it should be.”

Villa have won eight of their last 12 games, keeping clean sheets in every single victory along the way, so it would certainly be fair to say that they are giving themselves a tremendous chance of having some momentum heading into next season.
But with that winning run only coming after a play-off place was virtually out of reach, Jedinak and the rest of the team will need to prove that they can put those kind of runs together when there is plenty of pressure on and expectation means that anything less than a promotion push is not good enough.
