Transfer insider Gianluca Di Marzio has reported that AC Milan have pulled out of the race to sign Nicolo Zaniolo, after Bournemouth reportedly tabled a £26.4 million offer to sign him in January.

The report claims that Roma had accepted the offer placed by Gary O’Neil’s side to sign the playmaker, once described as ‘incredible’ by Danielle De Rossi to the official club website.

However, the player had rejected the switch to the Cherries, as he was keen on staying in Italy.

Now, Di Marzio has stated that AC Milan will not even make an offer close to the £26.4 million fee that Bournemouth promised to pay to sign Zaniolo in January, despite Roma’s request to do so.

As a result, the English side have 48 hours to try and convince the technician to sign on the dotted line for the club.

In case they cannot, the final decision regarding his future lies on Zaniolo.

The report also mentions how AC Milan have refused to accept any future resale clause involving Roma midfielder, Nicolo Zaniolo, as Bournemouth had presented a 10% offer in their proposal for their January target.

Not an easy January transfer decision for Zaniolo

While many might just advise Nicolo Zaniolo to sign for Bournemouth in January, now that AC Milan are no longer in the race for his signature, that is easier said than done.

Despite playing in the Premier League being an extremely attractive proposition, that does not change the fact that the Cherries are languishing in 17th place at the moment.

On the other hand, Milan are in the Champions League Round of 16, with many fancying them to beat Tottenham and progress.

As a result, only time will tell how Nicolo Zaniolo chooses to take his next career step, as one would assume he would have much rather played in the red and black strip of AC Milan than Bournemouth.
