Arsenal remain in pole position to sign midfield talent Adrien Rabiot, but AC Milan are reportedly the latest club ready to intervene.

Arsenal’s bid to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot becomes more complicated by the day with reports that AC Milan are keen to lure the 19-year-old.

It was reported yesterday in Italian newspaper Tuttosport that although Arsenal were favourites, Juventus had a decent chance of pulling off a coup because the player’s mother and agent preferred Turin to London.

But today, a new contender has emerged in the shape of Milan.

Milan are on the brink of selling off star striker Mario Balotelli, which may free them to return to the transfer market for players like Rabiot.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan’s fans want the club to find younger talent and vice-president Adriano Galliani has identified Rabiot as the kind of player that could win them back after a tough 2013-14 campaign.

The paper asserts that Rabiot would be equally as important a signing from a PR standpoint as from a technical perspective.

Milan can’t offer European football this term, which weakens their bargaining position, but the sale of Balotelli would give them much greater financial resources and they retain a level of prestige.
