Ante Rebic has been ruled out of Thursday’s Europa League clash with Celtic as AC Milan suffer another injury blow, according to Tuttomercatoweb.

The Serie A pace-setters have already lost their most creative central midfielder ahead of their trip to Glasgow.

However, while the sight of Hakan Calhanoglu hobbling away from the Milanello training base with crutches in hand must have felt like an icy-cold dagger through the heart of the Rossoneri faithful, Rebic’s absence isn’t as surprising.

The Croatia international missed Saturday’s 2-1 derby victory over Inter. And now any hopes he could recover from a dislocated shoulder to feature in this week’s European curtain raiser have been dashed.

TMW reports Rebic is also destined to sit out Monday’s high-profile clash with Roma at the San Siro.

Only one player has scored more goals for Milan in 2020 than the former Eintracht Frankfurt forward – and there are no prizes for guessing the man in question is a certain 39-year-old Swede.

Unfortunately for Celtic defenders Kristoffer Ajer, Christopher Julien and Shane Duffy, Zlatan Ibrahimovic continues to laugh in the face of Father Time with his match-winning double against Inter taking his tally to five in just three games in 2020/21.

“I am just becoming more complete and more ruthless,” football’s own Benjamin Button told the Daily Record.

“These big games are the ones I am always excited to play in. Even with no fans, the game against Celtic is a big one and we want to get off to a winning start in Europe.”
