Mikey Johnston is clearly sad to see Regan Hendry leave Celtic.

The 21-year-old confirmed on Instagram yesterday that he would not be staying at Celtic following the expiration of his contract.

Hendry was on the Hoops’ books for six years, though never made a senior appearance.

He has played alongside Johnston for the club’s youth sides, and the 20-year-old admitted on Instagram that he was sad to see him go.

In response to Hendry’s goodbye message, Johnston wrote: “20s legend. What a player and guy will be missed brother.”

Johnston will be hoping for a big summer at Lennoxtown. At 20, he is old enough now to be competing for senior football, like he was under Brendan Rodgers.

He has three goals in six Premiership starts this season and, with a Scottish Cup final looming large next week, Neil Lennon might start him against Hearts tomorrow.

Johnston started in the 2-0 defeat by Rangers last week, but had little effect.
