Alan Brazil has said on talkSPORT (8:40am, October 22, 2021) that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta should not get involved with Newcastle United and Steve Bruce.

What’s the story?

On Thursday, Arsenal manager Arteta spoke out on Bruce’s treatment by some sections of the Newcastle fans.

Bruce parted company with Newcastle this week.

Following the departure, Bruce explained how his tenure at Newcastle had affected him and his family.

The former Aston Villa manager spoke about the abuse that he had to face from some Newcastle fans.

Arteta gave his take on that in his pre-match press conference yesterday.

Alan Brazil’s warning

Former Tottenham Hotspur forward Brazil has said that Arsenal manager Arteta should not get involved.

Why?

Well, according to the talkSPORT presenter, Arteta could be criticised by the Arsenal fans if the Gunners suffer a couple of bad results.

Brazil said on talkSPORT (8:40am, October 22, 2021): “And also I would like to say, Mikel, don’t get involved because another couple of bad results, and Mikel’s going to get pelters.”

Mikel Arteta should be praised

Managers, like players, have to take criticism on the chin.

It comes with the territory.

However, we should not condone abuse.

Remember, managers and players are human beings too.

Yes, football managers are very highly paid.

For example, Arteta gets £5 million per year as salary at Arsenal, according to Goal.

However, that does not mean that fans can say whatever they like about Arteta and other managers.

We have to draw a line somewhere.

In our view, Arteta should be praised for coming out and backing Bruce.

It was really brave and generous of the Arsenal manager.
