Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has told Football.London that he thinks Anfield is the ‘toughest place to go’ in world football right now.
The Gunners advanced into the fourth round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night, beating Leicester City 2-0 at the King Power Stadium.
It’s been a strong start to the season for Arsenal, who have beaten Fulham and West Ham United in the Premier League, with fans really behind Arteta.
This weekend poses the biggest test for Arsenal so far this season though, as they must travel to Anfield to take on Liverpool.
The Reds are reigning Premier League champions, whilst they have also been world and European champions under Jurgen Klopp.
They have started the season with two wins too, beating Leeds United and Chelsea, and many will be backing them for another run for the title.
Arsenal lost 3-1 at Anfield last season, which was also their third league game of the campaign off the back of two victories, with fans maybe fearing a repeat.
Arteta has now admitted that Anfield is the ‘toughest place’ to play in world football at the moment, and called on his side to prepare well for the game and hopefully come out with a result.
“It’s the toughest place to go in Europe and the world,” said Arteta. “Let’s prepare well and see how it goes,” he added.
