Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has told Football.London how the players were feeling after the defeat to Burnley.
The Gunners suffered a 1-0 loss at the hands of Burnley at the Emirates Stadium in North London in the Premier League on Sunday evening.
An own goal from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the 73rd minute proved to be the difference between the two sides.
Arsenal also played most of the second half with 10 men due to the dismissal of Granit Xhaka in the 56th minute.
Arteta told Football.London: “Absolutely I prefer to play in 72 hours. The players are hurting. Thank you so much as well the fans because I think they were tremendous and behind the team with the support that they were giving and knowing how difficult it’s been for all of us in this competition in recent weeks.”
Bouncing back
Arsenal will return to action on Wednesday evening when they take on Southampton at the Emirates Stadium in North London in the Premier League.
Arteta’s side will be determined to bounce back, but it is not going to be easy at all.
The Saints are in good form at the moment and are as high as fourth in the Premier League table with 23 points from 12 matches.
Southampton will fancy their chances of picking up all three points from the encounter at the Emirates Stadium, and Arsenal will have to really step up their game.
