Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has praised Emile Smith Rowe for his performance against Dundalk on Thursday evening, as quoted in Football.London.
Arteta has said that Smith Rowe did not play in his preferred position in the Europa League match, but the 20-year-old attacking midfielder still did well.
The Spaniard was impressed by the display produced by the youngster, as Arsenal won 4-2.
Arteta told Football.London about Smith Rowe: “He played in a position that doesn’t suit him perfectly for his qualities.
“He has a lot of creativity and has the quality to receive the ball and do things. He’s a threat and I’m really happy for his performance.”
How did Emile Smith Rowe play for Arsenal against Dundalk?
Smith Rowe started the match for Arsenal and played for 77 minutes, and the youngster’s performance was very encouraging.
The 20-year-old was very lively in the match, provided the assist for Mohamed Elneny’s goal, and was very creative.
According to WhoScored, the England Under-20 international attacking midfielder took one shot which was not on target, played three key passes, had a pass accuracy of 94.1%, took 45 touches, attempted one dribble, and made two interceptions.
Promising talent
Smith Rowe is a very talented and promising young attacking midfielder who will only grow and develop in the coming weeks and months.
Arsenal have lacked creativity in the Premier League so far this season, and perhaps the 20-year-old could solve that going forward.
