Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has raved about Martin Odegaard in Football.London for his performance against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Gunners got the better of Spurs 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium in the North London derby on Sunday evening.

Odegaard, signed on loan from Spanish and European giants Real Madrid in the January transfer window, scored in the 44th minute and played well in attacking midfield.

According to WhoScored, the 22-year-old Norway international took two shots, played two key passes, had a pass accuracy of 96.5%, won one header, took 72 touches, made three tackles, one interception and one clearance, and put in four crosses.

Arteta told Football.London about Odegaard: “He’s got real stamina. He’s so talented but his work rate, as you said, is incredible.

“Not only that it’s the intelligence, the timing of his runs, when he presses. He really pressed. I think he had an incredible performance today, he’s giving us something different and he’s certainly making us better.”

Important player for Arsenal

Odegaard scored for Arsenal in the Europa League last week, and the Madrid-owned attacking midfielder is starting to become an important player for the Gunners.

The Norway international is playing well with Emile Smith Rowe in attacking midfield, and the Gunners are a better and more potent team with him in it.

According to WhoScored, Odegaard has scored one goal in seven Premier League matches and has scored one goal in three Europa League games for Arsenal.
