Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has raved about Granit Xhaka to the club’s official website.
Arteta has hailed the commitment of the 27-year-old midfielder, and believes that the Switzerland international midfielder is a “natural leader”.
In November 2019, then Arsenal manager Unai Emery stripped Xhaka off the captaincy and gave striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang the captain’s armband after the Swiss was involved in an angry confrontation with the Emirates Stadium faithful during the game against Crystal Palace, as reported by BBC Sport.
Arteta told Arsenal’s official website about Xhaka: “Yeah, he’s a natural leader.
“He’s someone who is always 1,000 per cent committed, not just for himself but to help all his teammates all the time.”
Stats
According to WhoScored, Xhaka has provided one assist in 24 Premier League appearances for Arsenal so far this season.
The former Basel star has also played four times in the Europa League and thrice in the FA Cup for the Gunners this campaign, according to WhoScored.
Linked away
Xhaka has been linked with a move away from Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
According to a report in Goal.com in April, clubs in Germany are interested in signing Xhaka from the Gunners this summer.
However, based on Arteta’s comments, it seems that Xhaka is committed to the Arsenal cause.
