Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Mikel Arteta has been commenting on Willian and his future at Arsenal.
Reports emerged this week that Willian may be leaving Arsenal in the summer, but despite the fact the winger hasn’t gotten off to the best of starts at the Emirates, Arteta still believes that he is an incredible player.
The Spaniard says that Willian has endured a difficult season, but he takes responsibility for not getting the best out of him.
“First of all we signed a player with an incredible talent, a proven talent and performance level in this league, and this season has been difficult and I take full responsibility because I have to be the one getting the best out of him and we had moments but not to the level that he did before. This is an assessment that we will do individually with the players and with Edu, the board and the ownership to make the right decisions for the future,” Arteta said.

Arteta was then asked if Willian will still be at the club next season, to which he replied:
“Every player that is under contract is very likely to be here with us next season.”
It seems as though Willian won’t be leaving Arsenal this summer.
Of course, The Brazilian could still leave if a team comes in with a big offer, but after a rather poor season, we have to say that it’s rather unlikely.
Arteta says that he has to start getting the best out of Willian, and we can only hope that he figures out how to get the winger back to his best.
