Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has explained to the club’s official website why he decided to bring Daniel Ceballos back on loan from Real Madrid.

As announced on Arsenal’s official website on Friday night, the Gunners have signed Ceballos on a season-long loan deal from Spanish and European giants Madrid.

The 24-year-old midfielder spent the 2019-20 campaign on loan from Los Blancos as well.

Arteta has explained his decision to bring back the former Real Betis star, and so has Technical Director Edu.

Arteta told Arsenal’s official website: “Dani was and integral part of our team last season and finished the season in excellent form. I love Dani’s passion and commitment and he’s a highly skilful player. We’re all delighted to welcome him back and we look forward to seeing him pick up where he left off.”

Edu told the Gunners’ official website: “We’re thrilled to have Dani back with us for the new season. We all know his qualities after an impressive 2019/2020 campaign, which ended with him playing a key role in our FA Cup success. We’re excited to add Dani to the list of quality players we are bringing in.”

Stats

According to WhoScored, Ceballos made 18 starts and six substitute appearances in the Premier League for Arsenal last season, providing two assists in the process.

The 24-year-old Spain international also scored one goal in six Europa League matches, and scored one goal in five FA Cup appearances for the North London outfit during the 2019-20 campaign, according to WhoScored.

Good signing for Arsenal?

Ceballos had a mixed spell on loan at Arsenal last season, but the 24-year-old did do well after Arteta was appointed the head coach.

The Spaniard clearly rates the Madrid-owned midfielder, who would play a big role in the Gunners’ quest to finish in the top four of the Premier League table in 2020-21.
